The vendor said the new appliance will help enterprises extend their Web services, and still control the data they expose in a secure, simple fashion.

The VPN line also includes an XML VPN Controller, which gives enterprises central policy and rights management and auditing services. Customers can buy the software or purchase it as a hosted service.

The controller includes Web services provisioning capabilities, is the certificate and key management service and collects distributed audit data.

The VPN alliance, meanwhile, sits on a network edge and publishes internal services and consumes external ones. Web services can be securely published to partners provisioned by the controller product.

Services consumers can connect to services using standards like WS-Security, or use the appliance to consume a partner's Web services and expose them as local services as well.

Pricing starts at $75,000, Digital Evolution said.
