What are the architectural differences between method level EAI and Web services?

I'm doing a research project on EAI and Web services. Could you be kind enough to let me know the architectural differences between method level EAI and Web services?
Web services are really an instance of method level EAI, providing both information and application service access. There are few architectural differences. Indeed, Web services leverage a similar architecture to traditional distributed objects. The patterns are almost the same.
