If you work with technology, you're familiar with large data sets and know the vast amounts that information systems are expected to handle are growing exponentially. It is critical that applications can seamlessly handle large data sets and get information into the appropriate hands in a timely fashion. Failure to be able to move large data sets from point A to B may mean it's time for application modernization. "Scalability issues will often indicate architecture problems," said Jaromir Hamala, senior consultant at C2B2 Consulting Limited. "It [a scalability issue] can also be a result of new conditions."
