How can I expose a Web service property using SOAP and WSDL?

Is it possible to expose a Web service property that contains like methods using SOAP? Is it possible to expose the property to a client? Is there a way I can expose the property in WSDL, without changing the IDL file?
If you create a Web service from a JavaBean, then all its properties are automatically exposed through SOAP as getter/setter operations. This approach is typically discouraged, though. SOAP is a message-based communication system. You don't want to emulate a distributed objects system.
